about

Breakups can be nasty. They can be soul-wrecking and downright ugly, putting you in a negative space. You loved them. You cared for them. But they lied to you. They broke their promises. You may be spinning out of control, but sadly through all their bullshit, you still love them. You still want them. But you know you can’t go through that again. Sound familiar? On My Own is a mellow, slow-tempo, heavily string-themed tune, that tags on your heartstrings and reminds you of that one ex that you don’t want to be with, but can’t seem to forget. The soulful and intimate melody will have you teary-eyed, reminiscing on a sad time, but there’s a particular underlying strength that will come through. You are better on your own. On My Own is performed by Clemont and produced by Jesty from Holy Mattress Money.

lyrics

Promises that you still can’t keep
All these moments are bittersweet
Baby, baby I was wrong about you
But you still make fall to my knees

All those moments I can’t erase
All those lies you told to my face
Maybe you’re not really the one
But I’ll tell myself you are anyways

I can’t hold on if you keep letting go
You’re not the person that I used to know
Through all your bullshit I still love you so
But as for right now
I’ll be on my own

The smell of you is still on my bed
Your voice is lingering in my head
Thinking maybe I’ll call you up
But I’ll take a pill and go to sleep instead

This is harder for me you know
You let me down so I let you go
You treated me like a weed in your garden
But I realized I’m a fucking rose

Oh, I can’t hold on if you keep letting go
You’re not the person that I used to know
Through all your bullshit I still love you so
But as for right now
I’ll be on my own
